Climate change mitigation and adaptation

ESA perceives the impacts of climate change to be global and local. The plethora  of environmental challenges resulting  from climate change include; increased land degradation, soil erosion, changes in water availability, biodiversity loss, pest and diseases and increased disasters like floods and droughts. These challenges need to be addressed across political, economic and social sectors. The degree to which systems or societies are susceptible to, and unable to cope with, adverse effects of climate change need to be determined viagraindian.com. Only then can corrective measures be taken and appropriate development initiatives be designed and implemented for the benefit of vulnerable societies.

While in lower income countries, climate change programmes have focused largely on adaptation to climate change, ESA strives to complement these efforts with appropriate sustainable energy options. The development of suitable strategies to fight the adverse effects of climate change and to influence policy is some of the activities which ESA partakes. Ultimately, ESA aims to make  action against climate change a part of everyone’s daily life and therefore promote effective  mitigation and adaptation measures.
